Privacy Policy for PolivPro
PolivPro is designed to work entirely on your device. There is no user account, no backend server, and no data is transmitted to us or to any third party.
Data we use and why:
- 1. Plant and journal data. Plant names, species, rooms, watering/feeding schedules, care history, health status, journal notes, height and leaf counts are stored only in the app's local storage (Application Support folder) on your iPhone. This data never leaves your device.
- 2. Camera (NSCameraUsageDescription). Used only when you choose to take a photo for a plant card, a journal entry, or a leaf diagnosis. Photos you capture are saved locally in the app's own photo folder and are never uploaded.
- 3. Photo Library (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription). Used only when you pick an existing photo for a plant, journal entry, or diagnosis via the system photo picker. The app only accesses the specific image you select; it does not scan or upload your library.
- 4. Notifications (NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription). Used to schedule local watering and feeding reminders based on your own settings (per-plant or single daily round, at the time you choose). These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on-device; no reminder content is sent to any server.
- 5. Face ID / Touch ID (NSFaceIDUsageDescription). Used only if you enable "Face ID for journal" in Settings, to lock access to your growth journal. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS (LocalAuthentication); the app receives only a success/failure result and never has access to your biometric data.
- 6. Location, When In Use (NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription). Requested only if you tap "Local daylight" in Settings. It is used once to estimate today's daylight hours for your latitude using an on-device calculation. Only the latitude value is stored locally (in device preferences) to remember your estimate; no location history, address, or precise tracking occurs, and location is never sent off the device.
Storage and retention: All plant records, journal entries, photos, and settings remain in local app storage and UserDefaults on your device. Nothing is backed up to our servers because we don't operate any. If your device includes the app in iCloud/iTunes backups, that is governed by Apple's backup settings, not by us.
Your rights and controls: You can delete any individual plant or journal entry at any time, reset all app data to the sample collection from Settings, revoke Camera, Photo Library, Notification, Location, or Face ID permissions at any time via iOS Settings, and permanently erase all data by deleting the app.
Children's privacy: The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since no data is collected or transmitted at all.
